Choices of Fate

We must notice that life encompasses facts of fate and we should turn the control over to God.

Choice of Fate cover

Tonight in the quiet, I rock in my recliner and listen to the lightning. The lights dim, so I light a candle or two and enjoy the ambiance of shadows dancing upon the walls. Today is a landmark of sorts. I realize God has his hands in directing my life. I think about fate and how it controls the storms we face. My pastor, bless his heart, once preached on the miracle of God reaching out to save us from the inevitable in life.

Looking back at times of strife, grief seemed to take control but now I realize I was being prepared by God. I held on to my faith and gave my life to Christ even though doubt clouded my soul. Life is sometimes happy, sometimes sad, but rejoice always follows reject in the dictionary. We must notice that life encompasses facts of fate and we should turn the control over to God.

Choice of Fate 2

Faced with adversity, storm clouds brew, the winds blow, challenges present themselves, and we ask – which way do I go? To God, of course, for the outcome of perils in life are predestined, based on the decisions we make according to our guide–the Bible. It helps us make wise decisions and keeps us on an obedient path versus one of unwanted consequences.

Storm clouds may separate as we travel onward in life, along with hail to the north and tornados to the south. Press on though, for our ventures are controlled by the Lord. He blesses our paths as we follow our soul.

As for myself, I know doubt might show its ugly face, but the sun shines despite myself. God is watching over me. Afraid of my own inhibitions, all I have is my faith and the belief He offers us forgiveness for unwise choices.

No roadmap can predict our destination but it helps bring us back to the path God wants us to be on — if we’re receptive to it. We will ultimately go home to God’s grace where He makes a table of harmony. Love, shared from the heights of heaven, will congregate around us…. despite our choices of fate.

It’s Sunday Morning

I give all I have to God for He has granted where I am in life.

It's Sunday Morning

I listen to the coffee perking in the darkness. I open an eye and peek between the blinds, thinking how these covers feel mighty comforting. Consciously I pray, God thank you for this cold winter’s day so I may replenish my body that I have so badly destroyed. But today feels different…. it’s like angels arrived and worked all through the night to bring me the comfort that I feel, right now. Relinquishing, I give all I have to God for He has granted me an exquisite place in life.

My biography highlights, which I write about in my blogs and books, are proof that God exists in a world full of doubt. Miracles shared in fairytales do come true; but to actually be a character in one, though, is beyond my wildest imagination. Dreams, you see, do come true…just stay in prayer! I count my blessings, as I think it looks like snow outside. I thank Him most of all for you, my friends!

It's Sunday Morning 2

Most never know what lies deep behind the subconscious. Thinking I need to be somewhere else this morning, my Lord, I know, is here with me. So, I light a candle in my house–my mental sanctuary. Oh, God, you are so awesome to wake me with wisdom, for there are times I drift off to sleep in doubt.

The clouds begin to thicken and I wonder if the weatherman is right or will the snow miss us. I am more than so thankful that God is not like a meteorologist. Bundled in my sweats and slippers, my comfort resonates from inside. I need another cup of coffee, but God and I are having a deep conversation. I’ll have to wait…. His presence takes precedence.

Isaiah 43:7
Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.

Forest Of Friends

Friends are forever….never let go of the yarn that stitched you together!

Forest of Friends

Morning breaks….the earth comes alive. The roosters first, then a dog barking, and a weary, old cow grazing on the farm. They all concede it’s time to get up as well. Meanwhile, I sit and listen to the stillness asking God to intercede. With aches and pains and life’s normal drama, there’s nowhere to go except to God in prayer. This is where we find peace within all those who care.

I pray for my friends, for where would I be without them. Like an old tree in a forest that, by nature, falls against another saying, “Lean on me if you need support”, and don’t we all? Every now and again, friends, a noncommittal entity, asks nothing in return to come to the rescue of some, like a yielding tree.

But friends, I can only share the love and respect that dwells in the hearts of many, as we all have a slice of dignity that God gives us to share with others. Friends, like trees of the forest, all live in God’s same parish to take care of one another. As branches seem to shade and protect their saplings, we too protect the afflicted. It’s our peers we’ve known for years, and their integrity, that stand like the branches.

forest of friends 2

We….a community, a camaraderie of employees, or graduation class from high school, all bear fruit as we help one another. Our forest of friends….some close, some miles apart, support and honor the memories of growing up. Some relationships are new and need to cultivate, the saplings. The forest….an aroma so spiritual, as God rules where the tree trunks grow.

John 15: 12-15
….This is my commandment: that you love each other as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this—that a man should lay down his life for his friends.

I love my friends. They bring me encouragement and strength. It’s like running a marathon as they stand on the sidelines waving me on. Can you say the same too? There are two kinds of people – leaders and followers. Which are you?

God gives each of us the capability to help one another, not to be a solo act. Friends are forever….never let go of the yarn that stitched you together! (Eccl 4:12) It turns into a tapestry of love for the fellow man you care so much about. By God’s design, aren’t we all about love and kindness? Help one another….like the tree in the forest. It bears fruit to carry the branches of the less fortunate.

Who were the forest of friends in the Bible?

David and Jonathan:  (1 Samuel 18: 1-3)

“After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. 2 From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return home to his family. 3 And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. “

Friends of Job:  (Job 2:11)

“When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.”

Elijah and Elisha:   (2 Kings 2:2)

“Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel.”  But Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.”
