The Frozen Flowers

This wonderful God we serve, has planted a garden in us all.

The Frozen Flowers 3

The warmth of the mornings sitting outside are over. The flowers that brought us such joy, is now frozen in time. But a candle continues to burn as my love for you will never die. Cuddled in the house, sipping my warm brew, I thank God for our new life. He made our dreams come true. The holidays, fast approaching, will be like none other! My spirit fills the room as I anxiously await for the holidays to begin. Being accompanied by you, is the greatest gift God could send me….my heart just smiles as I look out at the frozen flowers.

The Frozen Flowers 2

As most grow older and settle for a habitual routine, you and I are about to dance on the roulette Wheel of Fortune. Our lives, so full of joy and blessings, God has anointed our love for one another. Together, our mission is to give that, which only comes from the Holy Spirit, to every last person on Earth. Washing away the demons of yesterday, I look at you across the room. As the sun’s rays filter on your face, I realize, now, that the hell we went through was worth it all. God has honored us for being faithful to Him. He has ignited our hearts into the greatest love story ever written!

Dreams – the impossible thoughts – do come true! Some, you would never believe possible. But through prayer, I confirm that all things are obtainable through our Heavenly Father. And when you talk about riches, it’s not money. It’s the immense security of God depositing His grace into the voids of the disheartened.

The Frozen Flowers 4

Keeping the faith, knowing God gives you unconditional love, stay in prayer and let Him control. We are not powerful enough to move the world although we can all paddle to help it turn. Grab an oar! Lend your soul to where God guides you conscience!

My heart is so content as the sun burns away the pain of long ago. And though our frozen flowers may wilt in the coming days, our hearts will still blossom like a summer shower. Love only grows if you water it.

My dear friends, allow my love for our friendships to spill over into your holidays! I pray for our Father to anoint everyone’s soul with the spirit of love and not contain our hearts’ determination. This wonderful God we serve, has planted a garden in us all. We discover, later in life, how to nurture the spirit that keeps our flowers from freezing.

Forest Of Friends

Friends are forever….never let go of the yarn that stitched you together!

Forest of Friends

Morning breaks….the earth comes alive. The roosters first, then a dog barking, and a weary, old cow grazing on the farm. They all concede it’s time to get up as well. Meanwhile, I sit and listen to the stillness asking God to intercede. With aches and pains and life’s normal drama, there’s nowhere to go except to God in prayer. This is where we find peace within all those who care.

I pray for my friends, for where would I be without them. Like an old tree in a forest that, by nature, falls against another saying, “Lean on me if you need support”, and don’t we all? Every now and again, friends, a noncommittal entity, asks nothing in return to come to the rescue of some, like a yielding tree.

But friends, I can only share the love and respect that dwells in the hearts of many, as we all have a slice of dignity that God gives us to share with others. Friends, like trees of the forest, all live in God’s same parish to take care of one another. As branches seem to shade and protect their saplings, we too protect the afflicted. It’s our peers we’ve known for years, and their integrity, that stand like the branches.

We….a community, a camaraderie of employees, or graduation class from high school, all bear fruit as we help one another. Our forest of friends….some close, some miles apart, support and honor the memories of growing up. Some relationships are new and need to cultivate, the saplings. The forest….an aroma so spiritual, as God rules where the tree trunks grow.

John 15: 12-15
….This is my commandment: that you love each other as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this—that a man should lay down his life for his friends.

I love my friends. They bring me encouragement and strength. It’s like running a marathon as they stand on the sidelines waving me on. Can you say the same too? There are two kinds of people – leaders and followers. Which are you?

God gives each of us the capability to help one another, not to be a solo act. Friends are forever….never let go of the yarn that stitched you together! (Eccl 4:12) It turns into a tapestry of love for the fellow man you care so much about. By God’s design, aren’t we all about love and kindness? Help one another….like the tree in the forest. It bears fruit to carry the branches of the less fortunate.

Who were the forest of friends in the Bible?

David and Jonathan:  (1 Samuel 18: 1-3)

“After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. 2 From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return home to his family. 3 And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. “

Friends of Job:  (Job 2:11)

“When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.”

Elijah and Elisha:   (2 Kings 2:2)

“Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel.”  But Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.”

Loyalty vs. Respect

So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them…..

I sat on a bench watching two teams play. It was so cold my posterior froze to the wooden board of a bench. Bundled against the elements, facing the virtues of nature’s wrath. I could hardly predict the outcome. The teams fought hard, made some good plays and scored some points; but they walked away with arms wrapped around the opposing players. It was the only thing heartwarming on that bitter, brutal Sunday afternoon. The fans, too, huddled their way out of the bleachers. It didn’t matter whose side you were on. Just fighting to stay warm was worth its weight.

As we walked away, it wasn’t so much about who won or who lost. It was the sportsmanship displayed. “Loyalty ( strongly supporting each other) and respect (ability to admire someone for the abilities and achievements) goes a long way when two oppose one another”, I said to the father of one of boys on the opposing team. He smiled, shook my hand and said ” Good game!”. I guess he understood. Happy to be warm from the frigid winter winds, my heart steadily pumped 98.3 degree blood in this minus zero body.

I think about that game every now and then and the camaraderie we felt. I almost wish for a reunion of sorts; call it the coldest respect loyaltygame in Hades!!! But as I stop and tap my pencil eraser on the tabletop, I’ve come to want the same with everyone I know. It’s not just a wife or child but the guy I’m walking out of a stadium with as well. Loyalty and respect go hand and hand; you can’t have one without the other. My heart pales for those that try to live eliminating one or the other. Should I tear into the heartless as they rejoice with the absence of loyalty?  That surely is not respectful.

So tomorrow comes. Will things change? Will God intervene? Will you have patience and understanding? Can you allow the loyalty from love abound? And what about respect? Do you have the same on the scale for a janitor as you do for our Lord? I wonder….
