Crucifying Christianity

….hiding behind the words they read and living by the rules that are only applicable to suit themselves.

Crucifying Christianity

Webster’s Dictionary definition states that Christianity is a practice of a religion, a belief, dating back to Nazareth. Talk about crucifying Christianity!! Now, I know I may not be the brightest light in the midnight sky, but I beg to differ with this description. I’ve practiced a lot of things but I never saw attending church as a practice. Practice isn’t a commitment! Doctors practice medicine, athletes practice their sport. And as far as their definition of it being a belief? OK, maybe that’s where our generations differ. Christianity, in my opinion, is about being and living Christlike—hence, the first part of the adjective.

Christianity, I’d like to believe, is a way of life–waking in the morning and asking God to bless your day; or praying to our heavenly father to forgive those who trespass against us, as we go to sleep. Do you practice, at our age, what we should have mastered by now–praying? Right or wrong, it’s a way of life for Christians.

I wander in my thoughts….

Some can recite bible scripture backwards, but does that make them a better Christian or more Christlike? Or is it those that wake in the morning to give of themselves, showing respect and honoring others, and living by the commandments that have been passed down? Christianity – is that when someone forces you out of your driving lane, or is it using some choice words to say how grateful you aren’t for their stupidity? NO! That’s crucifying the meaning behind Christianity!

The words, “I’ll pray for you”, does that pertain to practicing? Helping you on with your coat or holding a door…. maybe. But that’s being courteous and isn’t that what Christ would want? Christ could care less if you’re a Baptist, Catholic, or Presbyterian and those who follow His footsteps should know better than that! You treat everyone equally because it’s a way of LIFE–a life that brings you to God in the end. As Christians, we should respect all born into God’s kingdom!

Crucifying Christianity 2

Ah…and now for the Christian hypocrites – those who could care less how they drive others out of their lane, while they read the Bible over breakfast! Their swords wave as they swear. Their hearts are less than the brains God gave them (though they don’t consider that as an option). So many–hiding behind the words they read and living by the rules that are only applicable to suit themselves. Perhaps they are the people that Webster’s definition refers to when we speak of Christianity – practicing a religion!

Combatting hypocrisy was a passion for Jesus. In fact, much of Matthew 23 is dedicated to this topic:

“‘Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.’”

According to God’s wishes, we as Christians, must make it our duty to enlighten hypocrites of their wrongdoings. Be vulnerable, honest, and authentic with these unbelievers. Let them acknowledge their sins so they may share in the freedom of God’s forgiveness. Jesus encourages us to make disciples, not just “save” people, so let’s pitch in to help the hypocrites who are crucifying Christianity!

Crucifying Christianity 1

So, tomorrow when you wake, will you read your bible over breakfast, or scalp the neighbor that lives next door to you? Will you scream at the kids when it’s really your fault? Will your spouse get a hug and kiss goodbye as you go out the door and into your car?

Now tell me…. what part of practicing a belief is Christianity in your everyday walk of life? Are you, too, crucifying Christianity by knowing the Word yet living by your own demeanor? Or are you trying to do a better job of being the best you can be to others? If you’re only attempting to try, then maybe you are practicing after all!

The Pain Is Broken

…have eternal life in heaven!

The Pain Is Broken 2

Have you ever just pondered, “What is this world thinking”? Luting and rioting, shootings, people fussing and fighting, and then the firing of war missiles…. all in the name of power. But personally, I’d rather sit and listen to the heavens while God portrays His awesome righteousness on those who display love versus hatred.

For the lost souls that have never heard it, there’s a sound under these armored skies, and it, too, will penetrate your mortal soul. It’s a whisper of an undetectable fragrance that rides in a chariot through the night air, indescribable to a human. His name is God, folks—the only entity you can feel as your busy world comes to the end of each day! The hint of His aura drifts aloft over your spirit. Anointing you with His grace, God will manifest himself on those who want to remain in His Grace. And for all those times you wondered about doubting Your heavenly Father’s presence, you can suddenly stack them on the pinhead of a needle.

Romans 6:23
” For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life.”

The years spent in the prison of your conscience, trapped in your own selfishness of spirit, was little more than self-pity as you never received what you thought you deserved. But as the sun finally breaks through the gloomy forecast, it casts it’s rays upon you. Suddenly you feel different, enlightened maybe. Something has changed, you can’t explain it. God has anointed you, my friend!

Be blessed, as the pain is broken. In the sunset, tears flow for no reason as God, Himself, miraculously washes away the impurities from within your soul. He has saved your heart and pours His grace on your now weary anointed spirit. God’s forgiveness–the secret to an eternal life!

When you turn away from your sins and turn to God, Jesus saves us and we have eternal life with him in Heaven!

Ephesians 4:31-32
Get rid of all bitterness, passion, and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort. Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ.

EDITOR’S COMMENTS:

How can you be saved?

Ask forgiveness from God and forgive those you have sinned against. Ask the Lord to come into your heart as Lord of your life. God forgives our sins when we confess them to him.

Find a bible and church and learn about who Jesus is. We need to grow in the Lord. God’s will is for us to go into the world and preach the good news of Jesus Christ.

God’s Grace

So let this new year begin by putting God first in your life….

Share God's Grace 2

With the fanfare behind us, I stand before God. Thank you God for my many blessings of ’17! Though there were downfalls, the promise of faith kept things in perspective. Abundant blessings can only originate from heaven. I can’t wait to see what our Lord has in store for 2018. Feeling extremely blessed, I’m not sure I can handle much more as God has anointed me, like so many others, with His love. Merely a messenger, I try to share God’s grace through my creative gift of writing. I only pray I can touch those searching for Christ’s love.

So let this new year begin by putting God first in your life. How much unfinished business do you have to deal with from years past? Start fresh — wipe the slate clean! Be born again as God grants to His anointed. Establish daily prayers and worship. Read the Bible because it contains an abundance of wisdom and encouragement for everyday life. Let your soul prosper, friends!

Watching the sun as it warms my heart, it’s fifteen degrees beyond the pain. I draw comfort knowing God is right here with us. He’s like a very best friend that you’ve known fShare God's Grace 3or years. Relish the fact there’s no fear inside although going outside is another story for Satan frolics in near subzero temperatures. Let your spirit be complimented by the will of the Lord, for only He can grant miracles here on Earth.

Waiting to watch the frozen sunset, I’ll put another log on the fire to warm up our heart’s desires. May God be with all of us, forever more, in the comforts of our own little sanctuary. The super moon is on the rise in the shivering cold so let’s wrap ourselves together and watch it climb. Blessing every step we take, holding hands, God will protect our love for each other. It will endure any bitterness.

God Bless!

Mixed Emotions

Let us recognize our emotions and bring them to God.

The sun peeks through the ominous morning, lending itself to review the past. With no regrets, life though, has no reverse. It is a bowl of mixed emotions. Turning my back to the bone chilling cold, I can only look forward to a new budding season. I wait for the first vase of cut flowers to pierce the now frozen tundra. Mesmerized, the windsock reminds me of happier times and the sad turmoil of this last year…. a very rocky beginning, just ten months ago, but only God renews our spirits. Now looking out over the frozen sanctuary, I give Him all the glory a mustard’s seed, worth of warmth, can muster.

Mixed Emotions 2

Ordained in my Father’s warmth, love has driven me like a ship at sea in uncharted waters. So, I look back where God protected His spirit in me, never wanting me to lose faith. I see it so clearly now. With two living in holy matrimony on just one income, believe me–the Bible is correct! God protects his creatures at all ends of the spectrum. My soul reminds me of homemade chicken soup, bubbling over with joy. He keeps my spirit filled with miracles from above. Remembering where I was this time a year ago, saddled in prosperity, I thought everything was fine… but God knew differently. I was blinded from truths but my Heavenly Father still protected me from the evilness.

1 Peter 5: 6-8
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion….

How grateful could a person be that God would separate the thunderstorms for a safe passage? Words just cannot explain the true meaning of my gratefulness! It’s only God’s spirit that I give thanks to for the true love I’m anointed with now. So the sun rises in a dreary glare, but the palm trees sway in the summer air. The sand soothes our soiled souls that come together to be God’s chosen people. We all are one in our walk with Him.

EDITOR’S NOTES:

Let us recognize our emotions and bring them to God. Submit your hearts to Him and allow Him to do His work in your actions. God will simply comfort us, reassure us, and remind us we need not fear. Sometimes, He may prompt us to forgive or to ask for forgiveness. But seek Him and share more of your heart through prayer.

Birthdays, A Pagan Celebration

Dedicated to Dana Bicks…….

Birthday post

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” — Jeremiah 1:5

On this day, join me in celebrating the birthday of the award-winning author of this blog, Dana Bicks. I’ll give him a day off from writing and instead share with you, readers, the true Christian meaning of birthdays.

After researching the history of birthdays in the Bible, I have a new-found respect for a holiday that most Christians celebrate annually. I quickly learned that celebrations of the day you were born originated from the pagan practice of astrology. Shocked?? Indeed, I am.

Thousands of years ago, men invented calendars and calculated birth dates, to the very hour, of kings, rulers and their successors by studying the stars. Thus, horoscopes were developed, a pagan practice. Saying “happy birthday” to friends and loved ones became society’s superstitious way of protecting them from evil spirits.

God’s calendar includes seven extra 30-day months every 19 years. This was to ensure that birth dates would vary from year to year throughout one’s lifetime, God’s intention. According to Scripture, birthdays are not a time to express joy, sing and expect gifts, simply because one is born into the world on a specific date. This day, if celebrated, denounces the worshipping of our Lord daily. God specifies that the day of our death is better than the day of our birth. He commands that the Easter crucifixion and human deaths be fully acknowledged and not birthdays.

So, how much does God abhor this personal holiday? Consider the fact that birthday celebrations are only mentioned three times in the entire Bible and each time something terrible occurred:

Genesis 40:1-23 – Pharaoh, the Egyptian king, celebrated his birthday by executing his chief baker. God never stopped this execution.

Matthew 14: 3-11 – Herod, on his birthday, ordered the beheading of John the Baptist. God never halted the death of this icon.

Job 1:4 – During the birthday party of Job’s oldest son, God allowed Satan to kill all 10 of Job’s children through what appears to be a tornado.

In fact, all major figures in the Bible never had their birth dates revealed – Abraham, Moses, King David, Jacob, Sarah, Noah, Abel, Samuel, Job, Esther, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Peter, Paul, James (Christ’s brother), or the apostles. Even the actual birth date of Jesus Christ goes unrecorded in the Bible!

So where did the birthday parties of today come from? They are principally from Germany where the birthday child receives gifts, chooses a menu, and receives a candle-ringed butter or jam cake.

But, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. God does shine on acknowledging people who have lived to a great age as they have great wisdom and experience to share with younger generations. In other words, celebrate a long life!

(Proverbs 16:31)
Gray hair is a crown of splendor;
it is attained in the way of righteousness.”

Therefore, yes, I am celebrating your birthday today, Dana! God is the giver of life and He loves you! This is my special prayer for you:

Dear Lord,
On this day that we celebrate Dana’s birth, I pray for blessings and joy over him. You knew everything about Dana before his birth and You have a plan of prosperity and hope for his life! Let him feel confident and ready for the year ahead knowing that You have an order to his steps and a purpose for his life. Help him to find joy in every circumstance in life, knowing that You work all things out for good. I thank You for Dana, for loving him with unconditional love, and for the promises You have spoken over his life. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Standing The Test

It’s only God that plants potential in our spirit as we try to figure out what we are supposed to do in life.

Stand The Test 4

An old statue remains in the middle of a town square and year after year, it deals with the elements. Walking by to admire the craftsmanship, I pause to reflect on the crosses I too, bear….

Stand The Test 2

Like a pillar, I stand in the site of God asking only for forgiveness. With my determination, I must proceed. My commitments are never-ending. Blessed, my integrity stands the test of time. And now, my life has been complimented. Only God could have made my miracle happen – the re-emergence of a “love child” of the eighties – a love I never knew.

But what is my point? Closely observing the statue in the middle of town square, one realizes that within ourselves God has given us all the ability to create anything we want. Be it in the form of dreams or prayers, our creativity is derived by our Father in heaven. After all, He only wants the best for us, like any father’s wishes.

Stand The Test 1

We do fall short, though, at times. As a baby learns to walk, we face our tribulations. I’m not a trained writer, or so I thought. I’m dyslexic, but it was God that put me up to the challenge. Feeling a bit like Moses, I have no idea of my potential. After all, I don’t think I could part the Red Sea!

It’s only God that plants potential in our spirit as we try to figure out what we are supposed to do in life. Think you may be too old to change? Better not! Biblically speaking, not one was young when they left their mark, “As it written…”

God loves us all. There is no bias or supremacy in His eyes. We are equal, as humans, in His light. We have the reserved right to reach for whatever it is that we can dream. Like Isaiah, we just never can conceive our own possibilities. He, too, realized that God had made him with unique characteristics and a special purpose – to serve him and proclaim His news.

As Dawn awakes, the sun rises from the East. A miracle of the morning, we are blessed with the capabilities to go out and conquer the world, just as God so intended. Be not afraid! I was scared to death too, but it didn’t stop me. Keeping my faith, I wouldn’t be swallowed. I, on this bright sunny morning, pray for all that step out and make a change in their own lives to the glory of God. Pray for the direction and faith to walk in the mysterious miracles that God holds for each of us.

Seen God Lately?

and Signs of God’s Presence In Your Life….

Seen God Lately 3

In our furious world, we are all set to deadline some thing or somewhere. There’s little time to stop and think about much more than work and family. But my burning question arises, have you ever seen God or felt his presence?  I bet you have and never realized it!

Watching the forecast, you begin to wonder….the winds swirl and rain comes at you with blunt force. Hunker down to protect yourself! Brutal weather is nothing compared to the imagination of Satan. You must realize he will take any opportunity to reign. It seems that gloomy gray and having a bad day coincides in some way. Your disposition and your attitude do seem to parallel with the oncoming shades of gray.

For hours, or maybe even days, we find our souls hibernating as the weary weather penetrates our bones. Then one afternoon the clouds subside and horizontal lines of blue break through. Your heart smiles at last! God has shed His grace over what was once a reign of terror. He calms the weather as if laying His hands upon the stormy seas. Sighing deeply, we now feel His ever-presence knowing only our Father in heaven could bring us this peace.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Jeremiah 29:13

Relaxed in these moments of peace, we grab something refreshing and step outside. Here in His sanctuary, you see His hands raise the sad, droopy flowers from Satan’s reign. Even the birds come out to frolic at the feeder.

Oh yes, God is more present than you’ll ever know. Noticing the swirling winds, you wish you were on His pristine waters sailing out to another port. Lord, what an awesome feeling to know you are right here beside us as we tack! Especially when we need Him the most.

Seen God Lately 2

If you feel God is trying to tell you something, consider He is preparing you for a greater in the future. Embrace it…look closely at it and don’t wish it away. Pray for His divine wisdom in your life.

Signs of God’s Presence In Your Life

Is God talking and you’re not listening or are you not familiar with His messages in your life?  Here are some eye-opening signs that God is speaking and you must pay attention:

God will use people to send you messages. Interested in pursuing something but you’re uncertain? If ordained by God, natural events will begin to occur that gives you the extra push to run with it. Particular people will come to you with encouraging words or information that you need to move into the right direction. People are not placed in your life by accident.

Ever seen a message in the sky by the clouds? Or by birds or butterflies? Allow me to share a personal experience with you. My editor was recently sitting on the back porch and a WILD bird flew down to within two feet of her and began chirping. Thinking they wanted some food, she threw bread onto the ground for them but they didn’t come down to eat it. When she went back to her computer, one of my writings was waiting for her and it turned out to be one of my most popular pieces. Not only that, this piece mentioned birds in it!

Financially broke but money appears “out of nowhere”? Not a stroke of luck….coincidences are from God!

Have you ever been in or saw a death-defying accident but walked out alive? Was there someone mysteriously there that helped but later disappeared when an ambulance arrived on the scene? God’s angels, my friends.

Ever had an uncomfortable feeling or a feeling like you shouldn’t be doing something? God will never lead us to do something that is wrong. There is a sign to find in the turmoil.

Dreams will be very vivid when they are a message from God.

“My sheep know my voice.” (John 10:27)
