A speck of the blue sky reminds us of hope. Sometimes, life looks bleak and gray. We may struggle to walk to the mailbox or to replenish the empty kitchen cupboards, but one thing is for sure – God knows your pain and struggles. It is my philosophy that deep within everyone, God purposefully created a void in our soul. We may not realize it but by design, biologically, this micro-creation is an endless hole meant to be filled with hope. It drives our faith, nurtures love, and develops compassion.
I found many acronyms for ‘hope’ on the internet, but recently I discovered one explaining the promise of this word perfectly – Holding On with Patient Expectation. How exquisite! This is the essence of Christian life. It is a confident expectation of our future with the Lord knowing we are living effectively in Him, here and now. Without hope, godly living is impossible, and the unrighteousness rules.
Hope is the strength that motivates us and keeps our chin up when you have to go out in the bleary weather; it builds faith. Wake with a smile and start the day with a positive attitude. God’s hope can be life-changing as it helps us to face everyday trials and tribulations. It will give us the power to live courageously knowing He will fulfill our greatest needs.
I hear the birds on the branches in the trees as they whistle a good morning to one another. Even they have hope for bright sunshine while they sing in harmony of God’s love. Hope permeates every creature on earth. Will you allow the hole deep inside you to fill with God’s love and the hope that Jesus will return to heal us? For the Bible says, “He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.” (Isaiah 61:3) What is better hope than God?
Let’s praise our hope with music by Don Williams, “Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good”:
