In the backrooms of musty smells, you can hear the bells that anticipate the winnings. I wonder…. what do gamblers see as they give their tithes to the one armed bandit? I shudder to think as faith is not luck. God won’t appear on a “Lucky Duck” machine!
Tinsel town is just for those who bet on faith. A roll of the dice and they close their eyes and pray. It’s a great place to play but if they would just take that practice and go to church.
In the holy sanctuaries is where I place my bets. God has never let me down. Giving has another meaning when your commitment goes into the offering plate. Oddly, the service plate is removed before dessert. I dread the thought of having dessert delivered from a one arm bandit!
Having a deep admiration for God’s Word, you do not have to know how to read. Just listen to the lesson being delivered. Hear the bells ringing from the steeple where God is love. Fellowship gathers and it doesn’t cost a thing. You won’t leave broke as your spiritual wallet is filled with riches from the pulpit.
I pray for those who’ve lost their hard-earned wages. I’m a pauper of sorts. Like skipping a rock across the pond, I have little desire to pitch my earnings.
Today I wake thanking God for the morning light. Dawn, I bet, waits to enjoy a cup of coffee with me. My winnings?? They are the result of spiritual happiness. To sit in peace and give thanks to the Holy Spirit…. that is priceless, don’t you agree?
Life’s a gamble….a roll of the dice. What will your investment return? Happiness and joy or a pocket full of maybe’s?
As always, I place my bets on God above. I may not roll a Lucky Duck yet I can smile at the sad faces of reality. My life’s consumed in Holy prayer; not in risks that lend themselves to happenstance – just deep respect that God exists.
Faith! What a great bargaining chip!
Yup, I was right! Here’s Dawn……..
