I set the sails in the golden sunset with no particular place to go. I was enjoying the fresh air of an evening breeze, a little moonlight as it tops the trees, and you, of course. The winds were right as we sailed out, quietly, so as not to disturb mother nature. I watched you smile as if the whole world had been lifted off your shoulders.
There in the evening air, you poured us a glass of wine and we made a toast. God bless… with the winds so gentle, our little yacht could sail itself. We watched the harvest glow as it broke through and the sky lit up the night as the amber rays shown through the tree tops. Snuggling together, I stole a kiss, as autumn was on its way – a reprieve from the oppressive heat. It was finally over.
We cuddled as we charted our map of destinations unknown and away we sailed into the starry night. Without a care, I prayed we would land on a deserted planet to catch a glimpse of the eclipse as the earth circled between the sun and us. As the moons circled our boat, we fell in love, as shooting stars sailed across the heavens.
But, I am only dreaming, as I sit and watch the snow falling, in the middle of the cold and dark. I pray, “may our Lord in heaven show us the way, be our beacon, and help us plot our journey through the heavens while sailing away in the autumn air, dreaming …”
